BELL COTTAGE RESTORATION

Projects often present unique opportunities and this one sure did. Complex and historically significant, JCG Carpentry is proud to have restored Matthew Bell’s workshop (circa 1800s).  This dilapidated building was transformed into a bright & modern 1 bedroom studio, living space. We worked closely with the homeowner’s vision of creating a contemporary living space with all amenities in keeping with the original structure’s heritage.  This project involved extensive demolition, new foundation work as well as rehabilitation of original stone walls. A completely new wood frame structure was joined to the original stone walls, creating the building as it now stands. New mechanical & electrical services were brought to site and installed throughout the building including in-floor hydronic heating below polished concrete floor. The completed building will now stand another century or more.
